Aged Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea

(rating: 2 out of 5)

Aged Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea has been kept in an air tight case for 5 years. It has not be re-roasted. This Aged Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea yields a clear brown liquor with a pleasing aroma reminiscent of roasting chestnuts. The strong, distinctive flavour with a sweet aftertaste.

Price & Size :

Quantity :

Other names:
Aged Oolong Cha

Taste:
Smooth light peachy taste with slight hint of sweet aftertaste.

Appearance:
Tightly rolled oolong tea with dark brownish to greenish pellets.

Origin:
Anxi, Fujian Province

Harvest Period:
2002

Brewing Guide:
We recommend using purple clay or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Fill the teapot 2 grams (1-2 teaspoons) tea leaves for every 225ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 95°c (203°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.

I have some experience with Aged Tie Guan Yin and I can honestly say that this one is disappointing. Usually a good Aged Tie Guan Yin opens up after a extractions the first flavor characteristic of tie guan yin to disappear with age is the fruitiness leaving a nice slightly Smokey yet still very floral smelling liquor. This tea is the same from start to finish flat with no complexity and the only detectible taste is lingering tanons in the back of your mouth. I don’t know it the tea is devoid of all complexity because of storage issues or what but I would not recommend this tea.
